There are so many little jobs to be done in the run up to your wedding day, that it's easy to forget about one of the most crucial things on your to-do list: making a plan for on-the-day emergencies! Unfortunately, wardrobe malfunctions, makeup disasters, headaches and blisters do happen, even on your wedding day, so it's worth putting aside some time to compile a little survival kit. That way, if you break a nail or lose a button, you can relax in the knowledge that you've got everything you need to get it sorted. All you have to do is grab a pretty cosmetic bag or tote and get packing, or ask one of your bridesmaids to do it for you!

What to Put in Your Wedding Emergency Kit: A Handy Checklist

Hair & Makeup:

  • Cotton buds
  • Emery board or nail file
  • Lip balm
  • Hand lotion
  • Bobby pins or other hair pins
  • Tweezers
  • Hairbrush or comb
  • Eyeliner, if using
  • Lipstick in your chosen colour
  • Lip pencil, if using
  • Pencil sharpener
  • Finishing Powder
  • Small mirror
  • Nail polish in your chosen colour
  • Eyelash glue
  • Hairspray
  • Deodorant
  • Makeup remover
  • Baby wipes or wet wipes
  • Sunscreen
  • Handbag-sized perfume or fragrance
  • Hair straightener if using
  • Face mist, if relevant

Clothing & Accessories:

  • Sewing kit with needles, thread, spare buttons, and safety pins
  • Fashion tape (for keeping clothes in place)
  • Scissors
  • Stick-on instant hemming tape
  • Clear nail polish if you're wearing tights (to stop ladders from getting bigger)
  • White chalk (for masking stains on a white dress)
  • Stain remover wipes
  • Lint roller
  • Crochet hook (if your dress has got lots of buttons)
  • Shoe polish
  • Spare shoe laces
  • Flat shoes (if you're going to be changing them in the evening)
  • Extra earring backs
